Machel Maxwell is from Ottawa, Ontario, on the unceded territory of the Anishinàbe Algonquin Nation. Machel has a Bachelor of Social Science in Economics from the University of Ottawa and a Juris Doctor from Dalhousie University. During law school, Machel was a Peer Educator with the Schulich School of Law’s Indigenous Blacks & Mi'kmaq Initiative, a volunteer legal researcher with PATH Legal, president of the Dalhousie Prison Justice Society, and a senior law student with the Dalhousie Legal Aid Service. He is currently working as a Judicial Law Clerk at the Court of Appeal for Ontario.
